Rain garden install: phase 1

Wow! If only our building project moved as quickly as our rain garden. Last Thursday the asphalt pavement was cut and excavated to make room for piping and the right soil and rock mix. Fortunately the rain held off until that part was complete. Today on this gorgeous early fall day in St. Louis a…Read more

OK, so we haven’t moved yet…

Stairwell Up

The last post should never have happened. It’s that kind of wishful thinking that is sure to derail any well thought out plan. The good news is that we are definitely moving into Pershing one week from tomorrow (oh, I shouldn’t have said that!). Things are getting really close. Take a look:

Move in date has been set!

Second Floor

I’ve been a bad blogger. Sorry for the delay in sharing progress updates on 7400 Pershing. We’ve been busy pushing the project to the finish line. Move-in is set for June 1 and we have a lot to do to hit that date. Since the last post the drywall been hung and finished, the¬†second floor…Read more

Progress inside and out…

Solar

We’ve been waiting on some good visual progress to share new news and finally, it’s here. We arrived home from spring break to find the kind of forward motion we’ve been looking for. On the outside, we are excited to share some shots of our 24 new solar panels perfectly situated on our south facing…Read more

Honk if you love zinc!

The Roof

Seriously, if you happen to be driving by, honk if you love zinc! By far the biggest and most difficult decision that we have had to make on this project has been deciding what to do with the roof, and especially the roofing material (see “We bought a roof”). History showed up on our doorstep today

Historic 7400

Here is what we know: “Someone stopped by the project.¬† He was 82 and his father-in-law owned it in the…Read more

At Long Last…

The wait is over and the most visible change to the building has begun. Last week the roofers started the process of laying the underlayment and then hanging the zinc shingles. So far so good! The back side of the roof is nearly complete and the front begins tomorrow. Once the shingles are on, the…Read more

Things are moving again…

Roof in Progress

If you follow our blog or drive by our building on a regular basis you might be wondering why nothing has been happening. Remember our post “We Bought a Roof!”? Well, we finally did. A really nice zinc roof that takes a while to get. We’re told that it’s in the US now and headed…Read more

Drawings for clarity.

Elevation

A few weeks back we had a request for drawings. Silly that we haven’t provided them sooner! To follow are some elevations and floor plans. It is a two story structure with distinct rooms on the first floor and one open studio on the second. Enjoy!

Progress three ways!

Second Floor Opened Up

A few updates on Pershing to kick off the week…   The geothermal pipes are in! The wells will be drilled soon…more later on that! This photo was taken from what will soon be our new utility room looking west toward the kitchen and our back door.   The old stairs have been removed to…Read more
