Sotheby’s Auctioneers combined their retail and auction wine businesses under Sotheby’s Wine and needed to address the wine storage and presentation issues in their 1,750 sqft retail store located in the lobby of their headquarters building in New York, at 72nd and York.
With a minimal budget for this new venture, Kuhlmann Leavitt, designed a custom wine racking system and checkout desk with simple materials of plywood and dowel rods, complete with a new hang-tag merchandising system. KLI also redesigned the store layout and interiors to include a lounge area with alluring lighting that beckons visitors across the busy lobby. Custom designed and printed textiles hang along the walls and concrete structural columns showing photography of wine estates and maps of the Burgundy region of France.
